As you enter Grab a Snack you are welcomed by a magnificent setting, a delightful marriage of antique TimTam packets and the luxuries of modernity. Sitting in any table you have a wonderful view of the workshop-like kitchen where you can see the chef working. For those who do not book a table and are waiting, there is a cosy outdoor area with aged plastic armchairs and pictures of meat pies displayed elegantly. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering meals. I had the under-cooked chips accompanied by a generous helping of chicken salt and if you're lucky the occasional wedge, while my friend tried the sun-stained banana flavoured treats which he simply could not resist. They were exquisite. What a pity that the service does not accompany the high quality of the food. You can hardly get a smile out of the waitresses, possibly due to their small stature and old age. Thankfully the illusive one-thumbed owner, a late-aged charming man, is always around willing to exchange some kind words with all his sparse clients.Despite the high price of the food and the not so attentive waiters service, I had a pleasant dining experience at Grab a Snack with food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason I highly recommend going to the Grab a Snack, however do book ahead as tables are of a limited number.
